Handicrafts

Since 2005, the women of Xcalak have been meeting in order to make craft items -- a way of improving their economic situation in their free time. The Commision of Natural Areas (CONANP) through the National Park Arrecifes de Xcalak (PNAX) began to provide different workshops focused on people specializing in the development of handicrafts. Those interested in the workshops were very effectively trained, and today we have the begining of a women and  young peoples artists collective which is making its products from natural materials found in the preserve, principally rose-colored conch, with the goal of reusing resources and generating alternative income.

Visit Xcalak, a paradise in the south of Quintana Roo and take home a wonderful momento crafted by our local artists.
