Conservation & Ecotourism

Bahia Blanca is committed to the preservation of the Reserve its members worked so hard as part of the Xcalak community to create. All Bahia Blanca activities are eco-friendly by design.

Every part of each tour and activity has been reviewed not just to make certain it provides an enjoyable and safe adventure, but also for environmental and economic sustainability, for educational value, and for its ability to share the truly spectacular beauty and natural grandeur of Xcalak with each Bahia Blanca customer.

The Xcalak Reserve covers 17,377 hectares. While its highlight for many people is the spectacular barrier reef that lies just offshore, the saltwater flats, mangrove canals and shallow shores are an important part of this reserve's "protected zone."

A wide variety of marine wildlife is native to the Xcalak preserve and the diversity of its plant and animal life (both in saltwater and brackish water environments) mirrors the diversity of its landscape and seascape.
