Snorkel and Dive

The best that Xcalak has to offer is only a few centimeters beneath the waves and there are two ways to explore: snorkeling or diving. Each provides a spectacular window into the colorful reef and its abundant and equally colorful inhabitants.

So, why not enjoy a two-hour snorkel tour in the coral reefs of the Parque Nacional Arrecifes de Xcalak, one of the best-preserved locations on the Costa Maya and part of the second-largest barrier reef in the world?

In calm waters less than three meters deep, you'll have the opportunity to observe a large variety of coral, invertebrates, and fish, including angel fish, butterfly fish, jack, blue tang, and doctorfish as well as brain coral, staghorn coral and more. We take you to the best places, based upon the day and season.

Perhaps you'd prefer to dive in paradise... For those looking for interesting, well-preserved dives, the Parque Nacional Arrecifes de Xcalak offers a wide diversity of sites with unique formations, one of which is known locally as La Poza or "the well." This reef structure is perhaps unique in the country because of its short coral columns and relatively deep channels in the reef, a contrast to most other coral dive sites.

A number of the more popular sites are Homna’, Chimenea, La Poza, Portillas, Pozeta, Poza Rica, Doña Nica, and there are plenty of other wonderful dive sites Bahia Blanca's local dive masters can show you. For beginners or younger divers, ask for La Posita. Bring you own gear or you can rent through Bahia Blanca. Diving includes tanks and weights. We provide water and soft drinks and the local knowledge to make your dive memorable, comfortable, and safe.
